With the help of our friends from Medway Valley Countryside Partnership, we’ve installed two Barn Owl nesting boxes on the Birling Estate. These will create safe breeding spaces for barn owls, whose natural habitats are often threatened by urban development and agricultural practices. These boxes help sustain owl populations, which in turn control rodent numbers, maintaining ecological balance and promoting species diversity and resilience.

Its reported to have been “a funny year” for Barn Owls and its suspected that some are likely to have 2nd brood this year, hopefully in by early autumn – we’ll be checking over the next few months and will report back if any have taken up roost!
